As a marketing major at the College of Charleston, I could list off thousands of industry terms and textbook practices. Through my time as an intern at MH Media Strategies, I was able to see the ins and outs, and many trials and tribulations of the marketing industry that one cannot gain from the classroom. I was able to collaborate with creative minds, wrote blog posts, drafted a press release, and much more. I was encouraged to share my own ideas with my coworkers and have them heard. I have worked on tasks that will be beneficial for my career path and in the future.
Marketing is complex and I was able to experience several different facets of such, starting with content. I spent many of hours in the trenches of Google looking for that one article that will strike a reader’s interest, or the fun fact that will stop people from scrolling down their feed. Content, digital marketing, and the proposals all play such an intricate part, and experiencing the thought process to come up with new strategies was intriguing. Taking the time to strike the perfect balance, pays off more than one would think.
My internship at MH Media Strategies challenged me to think outside of my comfort zone while immersed in a creative culture. I have gained connections, built a strong resume, and gained invaluable professional experience. My time at MHMS has assured me that I picked marketing in good reason, and that it fits my career goals and talents. Ultimately, I was able to experience the important results and differences it brings to our clients, and witness many passions and stories well told.
