Michael Hughes, Managing Partner

Michael Hughes has built a career creating compelling content, leading teams, and solving marketing challenges for companies at all levels. He has been an industry leader, marketing columnist, lecturer, and numerous award winner for industry and community leadership. With MH Media Strategies, our team focuses on the client first, then the target audience asking tough questions and finding solutions. In the end, we create a good story, well told.

Michael was educated at Bowling Green State University in Marketing & Media. He’s also a not-so-expert drummer and steel pan player, and serves on seven local community boards. He lives in Eastport (Annapolis) with his wife and four daughters.

Catherine Carouge, VP of Creative

As VP of Creative, Catherine is responsible for creative concept, design and execution for our clients across print, broadcast, promotional and digital media. She has a passion for strategic thinking and a track record for delivering successful campaigns that produce measurable results.  Catherine brings 10 years of experience and creative leadership to MH Media Strategies.

Catherine is also responsible for planning and executing effective social media strategies.

Catherine is a graduate of the University of Miami, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising and creative writing. She lives on Maryland’s eastern shore with her husband and daughter.

Tom Barnes, VP of Strategy

Tom Barnes is a pioneer in the field of strategic quantitative marketing and media analysis. Since beginning his career as a consultant in 1987, his clients have included media companies, software companies, design firms, marketing research firms, consumer products and professional services firms. Mr. Barnes has written extensively on forecasting for the media. He has also been widely quoted on media related issues in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, American Demographics, Chicago Tribune, BBC, and Fox Television. He is a sought out public speaker presenting for a number of prestigious groups including the Georgia Tech’s IMPACT Speaker Series, National Association of Broadcasters, Interactive Media Alliance, American Marketing Association and the Direct Marketers Association.

He was educated in Marketing and Entrepreneurial Studies at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Stu Kushner, Director of Digital Marketing

Stu Kushner heads the technology group that designs, manages, and hosts the websites that we develop for our business clients. His team is responsible for every phase of the process of designing new website, writing, new content, getting it posted to websites and pushed out to the social media sites. He is obsessively detailed oriented and committed to  not only creating sophisticated and attractive web designs but also heading the marketing campaign that earns page rank for our clients.

He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. And, yes, he is wearing leopard skin reading glasses.

M.B. Kantner, Director of Events

M.B. is an award winning artist, photo stylist, and event planner and brings over 25 years of experience to MHMS. She has worked on projects ranging from major motion picture releases, to national television commercials and events like Farm Aid and The HFStival. She brings a wonderful enthusiasm to MHMS events, photo shoots, and video productions making clients, talent, and actors comfortable on set or in the studio to get exactly what we need for a great end product. Her attention to detail is unparalleled and clients repeatedly say, “MB, you are the best!” We think so too.

Scott Clark, Director of Automotive Marketing

Scott is a second generation automotive professional with over 30 years’ experience focusing on media, marketing, advertising, and sales processes. Scott’s experience as a GM and F&I Manager coupled with his affinity for numbers contributes to his astute and comprehensive review of financial statements and capital expenditures.

Customer-centric sales and service processes are also in Scott’s portfolio of skills and talents he possesses and shares with automotive teams.  Scott is excited to bring those skills to MH Media Strategies and put his knowledge and experience to work for dealers and dealer groups all over the country.
